I know, it's been way too long since we updated...sorry, everyone. It's been sort of a whirlwind lately and the days are starting to run together.

For anyone who didn't know, we're expecting! Mini number 2 is scheduled to arrive in late July and we're really excited. If you weren't told personally, you can blame Brett :)

Brett's been really busy again with school but has loved learning Chinese this semester.

Myles is chatting up a storm these days and still loves trucks, buses, firetrucks, tractors, and of course "Trash Truck!". He loves that the garbage man comes to our house twice a week and I have to hold him up so he can look out the window to see it dump the trash...exciting, I know.

Here's a little look at what we've been upto the past few months....

Got stuck in a bee car...

Family trip to the Planetarium...

Graduated to a "big boy bed"...

Composed a symphony or two...

Saw the lights at Temple Square...

and froze our *** off playing in the snow...

Happy Birthday Myles!

Even though he was still recovering from swine flu, Myles had a pretty good Birthday. He even got to have his first taste of something sweet! You will all be happy to know that the sugar restriction was lifted (for a few minutes, at least) and he got to enjoy a slice of "real" birthday cake! He kept asking for more icing, of course! That's right. Christmas wrapping paper. You can give me the "mother of the year" award now, thanks.

x96T8Nso/s400/Fire+Station+014.JPG"> He was soo excited to get trucks and a backpack to carry all his treasures in. He even figured out how to get the water out of the hydration pack already! He is learning and growing faster everyday. I love being able to see his mind working and personality developing each day. It's always something new with him!

We wanted to do a little something special for him for his birthday, so we made a trip to the fire station. He absolutely LOVED it! He's really into any type of vehicle lately...especially ones that make lots of noise!

I hope they checked everything before they turned on the truck after we left...he pushed and pulled so many levers and buttons I'm suprised he didn't just drive right out of there!

Pure happiness!

It's still hard to believe that my baby is two already! Brett keeps telling me "He's not a baby! He's a big boy, now!". But he'll always be "my baby"....perks of being a mom! I'm so glad to be his mom and have loved every minute of it!

DAY OF HORROR AT THE ZOO!!

Katie still has not posted anything yet so I'll take the honor of doing so. So get this, we went to the zoo the other day, the three of us, to look at all the amazing/sick old animals and enjoy a family outing. We took in the regular sites, the bears, the bulls, tigers...I mean tiger, all that good stuff, then came the gorillas and it happened!!

We heard glass shattering and saw people running, more like flying at the speed they were going...yellow...black...yellow!!!! All we could see was fur and bananas!!! Then a sound ripped through the crowd, a sound as if we were in the Congo itself! Then it saw us. I tell you it was 30 feet tall if it was a foot. It stared at me, eyes locked on its target. In a split second my mind raced..."let's see a bear, you play dead, a mountain lion you fight back, shark, punch to the nose or jab in the eyes but a gorilla?" "Dang that Katie for making me take out the trash when that part came on discovery." Then it hit me! David and Goliath!!! But what to use, WHAT TO USE!? Suddenly I turned, looked at Myles and he gave me the head nod. Myles was already getting the baby sling from his stroller and climbing in. Luckily he had been watching discovery while I was taking out the trash and knew what to do. The beast charged in full gallop, if that's what gorillas do. I grabbed the sling with my right hand, Katie looking on from the back, swung it over head took aim and, just as I released, heard Myles yell, "SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS!!!!!" To make a long story short, to late...Myles and I clobbered the beasts one by one while Katie finished them off. Definitely the best day we have ever had at the zoo!

Peace out...

Yo!

So Katie always does the posting on our blog, but not today. Blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah. So the other day we went to the yadda yadda yadda and had a humpdy dumpdy, followed by a kick to the face and a stick-o-dynamite...it was great.

Myles is off to college next week and hopefully getting a job soon to support the family, or at least earn his keep around here. Katie has him working in the basement making blankets and shoes everyday, but that isn't bringing in much money so college the a good job. I wish he didn't mind the strings I attachted to him to do our father, son puppet street show but, what can you do? Just trying to make ends meet.

Man this blogging stuff is pretty fun, I should do it more often.
Myles--Dad?
Brett--Yeah?
Myles--My fingers hurt from all this sewing.
Brett--Well now your backs gonna hurt cause you just pulled landscaping duty...anyone elses fingers hurt? Didn't thinks so.

And now...back to reality

Brett and I just got back from the sanity-saving vacation of a lifetime! We went on a cruise from San Diego to Catalina Island to Ensanda, Mexico and then back to San Diego, where we stayed for a few more days with out great friends, Mike and Jacque (so good to see you guys again). We had SOOO much fun!

Catalina Island in Cali. This place is absolutely beautiful and so laid back. Everyone has golf carts here because of the 10 year waiting list for a car (they want to keep their island pollution-free). We got to the island early in the morning and were one of the first ones off the ship (I think most were still sleeping because of the hangovers!) so it was really great to be away from the crowds.

When we were in Catalina we rented some bikes and explored the island a little. It was awesome!

Ensanda. Not my favorite place in the world, but it was worth seeing. And I got a purse for really cheap, so hey! Not bad!

It was so great to be able to "reconnect" as a couple and take some time for us. It's been a really busy year for us with work, school and Myles, so having a little time together to remember why we got married in the first place was really great. We kinda feel like newlyweds all over again!

First Haircut...Finally!

Well, Myles finally had enough hair to get his first trim. He did so good, and wasn't scared of the clippers or scissors on bit! It was kinda cool to be able to give him his haircut and know the tricks of the trade. I can count on one hand the number of toddler haircuts that went smoothly while I was working in a salon...most went outrageously awry.

Of course Brett made fun of me for keeping a little lock of hair...but hey! It's so iconic, I had too! I haven't quite figured out what I'm going to do with it yet, though. I'd put it in a scapbook, but I'm one of those terrible moms that aren't into scapbooking...I know; I should have my parenting license revoked!
This is Myles' new favorite thing to do; walking (well, trying to walk) in daddy's shoes. He puts them on all by himself. They're on the right feet even!

Fun at the park

Last week Myles and I got to enjoy the beautiful sunshine and spent the morning at the park. Myles hasn't had the chance to play on a "big toy" at the park yet, so this was a first for him. He wasn't quite sure what to do, but luckily a few other kids came to play and he had a great time following them around and learning the ropes...I think the other kids were just a little creeped out by this little guy following them around and wanting to hold there hand.

I think the highlight of the morning for him was how fun it is to pick up a bunch of little sticks and dirt and throw them on his head. He did this for at least 10 minutes straight and I kept finding those little sticks in his clothes the rest of the day...ah, the innocense!
